On Ram Navami, metro services will be available on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of the Green Line. The service, which was previously suspended temporarily, has resumed following essential testing of the computerized automated signaling system. Since February, Sunday services on the Green Line were intermittently halted to ensure the effectiveness of the signaling system before the entire line becomes operational.
Currently, the Green Line operates in two separate sections: from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade and from Sealdah to Sector Five. The construction of the Esplanade to Sealdah stretch, which had been delayed due to several incidents of subsidence, has been completed. Now, work is focused on linking the signaling systems of both sections to enable seamless operation of the entire Green Line.
Metro authorities have announced that services will operate from 2:15 PM on Ram Navami, with the last train departing from both terminal stations at 9:45 PM. The decision to resume services is aimed at accommodating the large number of commuters expected to travel across the city for the festival. The full operation of the Green Line is expected to begin once the integration of the signaling systems is completed.
